Bony

I am Bony Scott and I have lived in Tortuguero for 22 years, completely dedicating myself to tourism in areas such as sports fishing and canoe tours where we offer the visitors the opportunity to learn about our plants and animals within Tortuguero National Park.
Also during the turtle season of reproduction, we organize nighttime tours to observe their activity within the Park.

Additionally, we offer travel information, water and land transport services and rental boats for your pleasure along the rivers and canals.

In my experience as a guide, I have dedicated myself to the observation and protection of the manatee in the zone of Tortuguero.

It is my pleasure to share my professional experience with you in Spanish, English or Italian.

Ross Ballard
Ross Ballard, Tour Guide

For the best in biologically oriented tours:
Ross Ballard is an experienced English speaking guide with more than eight years working at various biological field stations in Central and South America, and offers the following tours in Tortuguero:

  • Interpretive Tour of the forest both within and outside the Tortuguero National Park. These are the richest ecologies of Central America and here is an opportunity to experience these amazing places as an insider.

      Tour length – 3 hours
      Cost per person - $20

  • Canoe Tour of Tortuguero’s river and canal system. Undoubtably the best way to see this area’s great diversity of riverine wildlife and plants while traveling quietly and cleanly.

      Tour length – 3 hours
      Cost per person - $20

  • Special Multi-day Touring – teaching trips for biology student groups visiting Tortuguero. Such field courses are typically collaborations between the course instructors (chaperones and Ross Ballard).

A fundamental field course studying forest dynamics and focusing on such aspects as weather, soil, plant diversity, plant and animal interactions, ecological concerns, etc. An in depth but informal examination of lowland forest systems.
Available to student groups from middle schools through high schools.                   Accommodations and meals to be arranged as needed.

  • Tailed-made Tours that might include canopy walkway explorations and excursions to a local biological station, Caño Palma.
