Hi! My name is Mauricio Rodríguez Vargas. I have been a tour guide here in Tortuguero for 7 years, but my passion is to learn about and enjoy the biodiversity of the tropical forest.

Based out of the village of San Francisco (across the lagoon from Tortuguero) I can offer a uniquely different experience.

I want to offer something different and marvelous in Tortuguero with my canoe tours, walking tours, birding tours, tour to view the butterflies and much more to the tourists who come to my village.  

My family is from Tortuguero and we have a wonderful, large piece of private property in the rain forest across the lagoon from the village. My dream has been to be able to make ecological tours on this land and also to contribute to the National Park. 

On this page I would like to offer tours such as:

Canoe Tours of the Canals of the National Park at only $15, not including the entrance fee to the Park at $10 per person.

Walking Tours of private trails $12 per person

Camping in the Rainforest

We will camp on a beautiful property, right on the Tortuguero beach. Includes all of the commodities of a rustic cabin, with rooms, showers, and bathrooms.

This tour also includes breakfast the following morning and a guide during your stay and acuatic transportation.

You can enjoy all of this for only $135 per person.

Turtle Nesting Tours

We also offer a visit to Tortuguero in one day:

6:00am We leave from San Jose, accompanied by a bilingual guide.
7:00am We eat breakfast in the town of Guapiles. After breakfast we will see pineapple plantations along the road.
10:30am We stop at a banana plant to see the process of preparing bananas to be shipped.
12:10pm Lunch will be served at a nice restaurant near the same river through which we'll travel to get to the canals.
1:00pm We'll tour the canals for two hours.
3:00pm We'll return to the bus, which will be ready to depart for San Jose.

You can enjoy this exciting tour for only $310 USD per person. This price does not include the fee for a ticket into Tortuguero National Park.

Overnight Tour Tortuguero
We leave from San Jose at 6:00am with an experienced bilingual guide.

7:00am We'll enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast in the town of Guapiles.
10:30am On the way to Tortuguero we'll stop at a banana packing plant and have the opportunity to watch the process.
11:20am We'll arrive at the river "La Pavona," where a boat will be waiting to take us to Tortuguero.
1:00pm Lunch will be buffet style at Cabinas Ran Roja, where we will spend the night in an amazing setting with a fabulous pool.

This packet inclues a guided two hour tour through the canals of Tortuguero National Park, which will end at 10:00am. It does not include the $10 fee for a ticket to the National Park.
